چکیده

Atmospheric components (aerosols and molecules) scatter and absorb solar radiation. They significantly influence the contrast and apparent resolution of satellite images of the Earth’s surface taken in the visible and near infrared spectral channels. For accurate interpretation of satellite signals, remote sensing data have to be corrected for atmospheric effects. This requires knowledge of atmospheric spectral optical characteristics. Aerosol components of the atmosphere vary in space and time. Accordingly to recent investigations, there can be a significant error in interpretation of optical satellite images when the spectral behavior of aerosol optical depth used in atmospheric correction procedures does not correspond to reality. In this paper, an aerosol optical model that examines spectral optical depth and phase function for Siberia is presented. It is based on experimental measurements of the intensity of direct solar radiation, and on the microphysical parameters of aerosol submicron fractions. The model provides recent information on spectral behavior of aerosol optical parameters in Siberia and can be used with software for atmospheric correction of optical satellite data over Siberia forest areas.

Due to the effect of aerosols present in the atmosphere on the satellite images, the study of the effect of local aerosols distribution on the satellite images is important. On the other hand, the study shows that the effect of aerosols on the greenhouse gases and consequently on climate is also undeniable and as a result, this puts more emphasize on the necessity of this study. Lack of informa...

Using MODIS data for nonlinear hazard analysis of the Middle East aerosols

Aerosols are among the most important of atmospheric pollutants observed like the microscopic particulate matter in the lower parts of the troposphere. The main purpose of this study is introducing a new method based on satellite images processing results and nonlinear analysis (fractal based) to investigate the origin and dynamical mechanism of aerosols distribution in North Africa and the Mid...

Corrections for Atmospheric and Adjacency Effects on High Resolution Sensor Data -a Case Study Using Irs-p6 Liss-iv Data

Path radiance due to aerosols plays an important role over satellite derived reflectance due to higher aerosol optical depth and their seasonal variations. In addition, satellite data from high-resolution sensors are subjected to adjacency effect, which reduces apparent surface contrast by decreasing the top of the atmosphere radiance over bright pixels and increasing the brightness of the dark...
